This too is wonderfully complex on the nose with precise, focused and complex flavors that are supple on the mid-palate yet have a burst of finishing tannins. As with most '00s, the tannins are not aggressive and there is very nice length here. A lovely effort that is very much in keeping with the underlying terroir. (Issue #5, Jan 01, 2002)
This Charmes Chambertin has a ripe nose of black cherries, mint, damson and a fair whack of new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins and rather forced compared to Cathiard's Malconsort 2000 tasted alongside. Not bad, but it lacks a little soul. (Vinous, January 2010, 87 Pts.)
