The dark ruby/purple-colored Richebourg is impressively endowed. This wine, allegedly the same wine as that of Jean Gros and A. and F. Gros, is a backward, medium-bodied wine with considerable structure, outstanding ripeness, and enough tannin and acidity to warrant 5-7 years of cellaring. It should last for 15 years. This is a Burgundy that Claret lovers will appreciate for its austerity and backwardness. The 1993s are successful, although two of the cuvees possess obtrusive tart acidity and high tannin.
