The 1989 Latour resembles the 1982, although it is not as concentrated, full-bodied, powerful, or unctuous. Deep ruby/purple, with a penetrating bouquet of cassis, this large-scaled, yet surprisingly approachable wine is bursting with fruit and extract. The finish is admirably long and persistent. The wine has a high tannin count, but the tannins are largely obscured by the wine's rich fruit and depth. Anticipated maturity: 1998-2020. (Robert Parker, The Wine Adovate, 23rd Aug 1993, 90 Pts)
